If you'd like to host a dinner that's super easy and pleases even the most finicky eater, consider throwing
a kabob party. Beef is sure to be the star of the show at this event. In fact, the word kabob or "kebab" is Turkish
for "roast meat." Don't forget all the wonderful options that go perfectly with beef's hearty flavor — from
sweet fruit and crunchy vegetables to spicy peppers and soft potatoes. Make sure to provide a wide
variety of options so guests can choose what combinations they like best.
To stir up excitement for the party, hand deliver invitations one week in advance. Grab attention by attaching a unique kabob skewer to each invitation. Skewers come in all shapes and sizes — with handles that range from colored fruits and vegetables to Wild West and animal themes. By providing guests with their own unique skewers, they will be able to easily identify their kabobs. So, be sure to ask each guest to bring their skewer to the party and anticipate loads of fun!

Several hours before the party, prepare your back yard by setting up stations. Drape several tables with colorful fabric and use them for assembling ingredients onto skewers. To provide seating for your guests, consider bringing the indoors out. Place an area rug in the yard and set out a sofa, beach chairs, or even kitchen stools so everyone isn't limited to the porch or patio. Instead of using garbage cans for trash, line wicker laundry baskets with trash bags to dress up your outdoor area.

Make sure food is prepared in advance. Try our tasty recipes for Beef Tikka with Pineapple Coconut Raita (pictured above, bottom right) or Chili-Lime-Cumin Beef Skirt Steak Skewers (pictured above, top right) for a meal that's guaranteed to impress. Prep time for each is only 30 minutes.

Relax and enjoy! Once guests arrive and prepare their skewers, grilling is a cinch. Try having a contest to see who can build the "ultimate kabob" and have everyone vote on the winner.

Sweet Kabob Tips
For a fun alternative to traditional kabobs, slide cut-up fruit and cubes of pound cake or angel food cake
on skewers and grill. Or keep the kids happy with special kabobs just for them. Use colored plastic
straws or popsicle sticks and string with rainbow marshmallows, watermelon, strawberries and bananas.

Grilling Safety Tips
Thaw beef for grilling in the refrigerator — never at room temperature. If using the microwave, cook it right away after defrosting.

Avoid grilling while the coals are still flaming. Wait until they are medium to medium low.

Make sure to place cooked meat on a clean plate or serving board, not one that has held raw foods.
