Bee Balm (Monarda)
The name says it. Another North American perennial and garden classic. Comes in blossom shades ranging from white to scarlet and has fragrant mint-scented leaves (deer hate it) and, in addition to bees and butterflies, it attracts hummingbirds. Prone to spreading, it's best in gardens with a wild mood. Many newer selections are claimed to be mildew resistant. (Zone 3-9)
